Advisory Groups in a Montessori Adolescent Community

As guides in our adolescent communities, we take on a multitude of roles. Gaining in importance is our professional presence as an advisor or mentor to individual students and their families. Pat will lead us through some practical considerations as we hone the diverse skills involved in working as an advocate for adolescents. How do we guide young people through these tenuous times of social-emotional growth? How do we enable the building of a just and trusting community? How do we serve families in a holistic fashion, respectful of the times in which we live? Join us as we uncover some rich possibilities and formats for best practice.

Patricia Ludick is in her thirty-sixth year of working in Montessori education and was one of the planners and contributors in the early Montessori adolescent movement in the 1980s. She has guided teachers many summers at the AMI Montessori Orientation to Adolescent Studies. Pat holds an AMI primary diploma, a certification in Special Education, a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and a certification from John Carroll University in Spiritual Direction. She was recently named an AMI Auxiliary Trainer for the 12-18 level.
